The theory behind distance learning makes sense, it makes a lot of sense, but are we implementing these systems correctly? Or are we wasting time and money and failing to adequately train?
It is a silly notion that all these consulting companies are worth anything. Yet they are attempting to train our military men and women who cannot even keep the Humvees upright while driving down the roads under normal conditions or troop carriers off modern highway over passes.
The distance learning initiatives stink, it doesn’t work and the participants are busy slapping each other on the ass, going to conferences and congratulating each other, instead of actually seeing if all those distance learners know what the hell they doing. Surely they can do better than this.
Look here is the deal if you’re training humans to do something then they ought to be able to do it when they are done. Excuses are bull crap, like hot air. We have distance-learning intranets in the US Marine Corp and US Navy that do not work, are 3-4 times over budget and everyone in the Government IT sector is congratulating them selves. Meanwhile we have piss poor performance of the contractors and the feature creep initiatives causing some of these cost overruns are draining the militaries budget on pie in the sky crap.
But why; so the local areas around Washington DC Suburbs can continue exponential growth like the Dot Com days of Silicon Valley, well screw you distance learning jerks, you are wasting taxpayer’s money and you are the one’s who need to be taught something about reality and performance reviews. Why do we let incompetent people design systems to train other humans how to do stuff?
What on Earth is the problem with you folks in distance e-learning? They care more about your made up procedures, certificates and personal status than the American People. So forget these high paid do nothing distance learning over paid consultants. We want performance, not hype, colorful brochures and puffed up chests like some steroid induced weight lifter at the gym. Think on this in 2006.
